What caused the Republican wave that rolled over the land on Tuesday? There is no limit to the theories being floated by the pundits. Some people are inclined to point to the President’s sagging popularity, and there are some persuasive arguments to be made. I found this article while reading over at Real Clear Markets: http://pragcap.com/how-the-economy-crushed-the-democrats-why-neither-party-will-fix-it . Cullen Roche posits that the economy was the main factor, despite the positive unemployment numbers and the rise of stocks. The middle class is not benefiting from the ‘recovery’ and they are prone to take out their frustration at the ballot box. Instead of focusing on passing the Affordable Care Act the President should have made the economic well being of the country his first priority. Republicans are just as vulnerable to this discontent if they fail to heed the warning. Politicians take note: ignore the economy at your own peril.
